Founder and
Director of Operations
Michael (Pope John XXIII Regional High School, Class of 2028) founded DEFY during his freshman year. A three-sport athlete, Michael plays Varsity Football, Wrestling, and Lacrosse. He is also an actor specializing in television, film and voice over work.
Through his school’s community service initiative, he began working with an organization that collects clothing for boys in the foster care system. This experience laid the groundwork for DEFY. If basic necessities like clothing were in short supply, sports equipment was likely lacking as well.
As a student, actors and athlete, he understands how extracurricular activities build confidence, foster community, and encourage academic success. His goal is to bridge the gap and ensure all athletes have access to the equipment and opportunities they need to succeed.
Viviana Lisk,
Co-Founder and
Director of Social Media and Communications
Viviana (Morristown-Beard School, Class of 2028) is a passionate and driven student-athlete who co-founded DEFY with a longtime childhood friend during their freshman year. A dedicated three-sport athlete, Viviana competes in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse as she pursues the prestigious 3x4 Award at MBS.
Beyond athletics, Viviana is deeply committed to environmental conservation, participates in the Mock Trial Club, and is actively involved in numerous community service organizations.
A pivotal moment in her journey came during a volunteer trip to Panama, where she worked with impoverished children on a remote island. While food and clothing were provided by various organizations, she was struck by the lack of access to basic sports equipment—the entire community shared a single, nearly unusable soccer ball.
Viviana realized that gently used sports equipment, often discarded or forgotten- could make a world of difference for children in underserved communities. By collecting and redistributing this equipment, DEFY not only supports youth around the world but also helps reduce waste and protect the environment.
Brody Lombardo,
Co-Founder and
Director of Community Outreach and Donations
Brody is a student at Don Bosco Preparatory High School, Class of 2028. A lifelong athlete, he has been playing travel baseball since the age of 7, club baseball since the age of 11, and club hockey since the age of 8. During his freshman year at Don Bosco, he earned a spot on both the hockey and baseball teams, reflecting his commitment, discipline, and love for competition.
While athletics have always been a central part of his life, Brody is equally passionate about giving back. Through volunteering, including feeding the homeless and supporting local coat drives, he witnessed young children struggling with even the most basic daily essentials. He realized that if these children were already at a disadvantage in their everyday lives, they would also face barriers to participating in sports.
Determined to change that, Brody set out to provide equipment and resources for kids in need. His mission is to open doors for others to experience the same joy, teamwork, and confidence that athletics have given him, believing that sports can be a powerful tool for growth, connection, and opportunity.
